Unfortunately I haven't fished since July because of my knee surgery, work travel, and my new house. I want to start off the spring right and get back to fishing on a regular basis. Even though we dodged a major storm yesterday, it's already been cold enough this month for an entire winter and looks like it might be a long one and therefore spring seems an eternity away. So how about a winter get together to talk fishing, get to know the people here a bit better and just plain have some fun?
If you guys are interested, I'd be happy to host it at my place. We can do either a guys only thing or with significant others. I'm thinking a Saturday night in either February or March. Post here if you are interested and let's throw some potential dates around and we'll see how this evolves. If I can survive a house full of Irish immigrants on Christmas I can easily accommodate this crew.

Paul- This is a great idea.
A Saturday night deal sounds good....I am sure our wives, GFs etc would love to meet the other loons out there.
For me, 2/19 and 3/12 are out.
Count me in to help with something.

Depending on the date I think it would be great. Not so sure about the wife but maybe.

Sounds good........But I vote must bring "significant others"........That way they can commiserate about why we need so much gear . My wife still says that I can only fish with one rod at a time .

OK, so Saturday night with significant others. We can shoot for 2/26. Let's plan on around 7:30 or 8:00 PM and I'll have appetizers, snacks, soft drinks and adult beverages. Let me know if there are any special requests.
As we get closer I'll look for a yea or nay so I can get an approximate count.
I'm also going to hit up Dan, Rob, Mike etc from Dan's crew. Should be lots of fun.

*Bump*
We're less than 2 weeks away. I'm really looking forward to this. I wanted to be sure it's on everybody's radar and I'll look to get a final count a few days before. I think I'm going to be doing some of my home made pizzas that night.
As an added bonus, there's a very good chance that my friend Charlie will be down from NJ that weekend. Charlie is a custom plug builder. His company is http://choopylures.com . As of now he specializes in salt water lures and sells a lot of plugs on both coasts, primarily to the striped bass guys. I've caught fish on all of his production lures as well as some he made special for me. Several years ago Charlie took an old saltwater swimmer called The Creek Chub Pikie and made a mini version of it. The black and purple one has been a money plug for me early mornings, late evenings and at night on a lot of NY, NJ and CT lakes. These plugs swim beautifully and offer a lot of movement yet in a quiet presentation compared to poppers and walk the dog type plugs. The fish absolutely inhale them. The original plugs were made with spinner blades for lips. Not something that was easy to reproduce. Well Charlie finally found a commercially made lip and found the right balance for it.
After bugging him for years I think he's finally going to put these in production and make them available commercially. This is probably a ways off yet but I have some samples of the new lures pictured below. He's interested in getting some feedback from you guys and better understanding the freshwater market. I think he might even be bringing some samples to give away. If I can find some open water next weekend I'll try to get a video of the plug swimming.
Here's the old black and purple I've caught a lot of fish on.
Here's a sample of the new ones in daytime colors.

You didn't miss it. I'm going to get an email going for those who responded yes or maybe with the address and details on parking etc. Everybody can respond to that email so I can get a count with significant others. I'll hopefully get this out tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing / meeting you guys.

So what you are saying is bring cash?!

I'm making him give away a few samples to you guys.
I'm not sure many he'll have since he has 2 fishing shows coming up but hopefully enough to go around. If not, I'll get some more before the topwater thing starts happening.

I'm bringing some new baits to pass around!

Thanks for the great evening Paul....it was good to see everyone! I think Debbie is still a little shocked at the price tag of Thai's baits....

Thanks for having us all over. Really good to meet the everyone.
Really liked the pizza. My lawyer will be in touch shortly.
Thai, if someone wanted to stock up on a bunch of those big lures, where would he go?
Thanks again, Paul.
