The bite was on at Beaverdam 6/5

I got started about 0700 and choose a bass pattern Zara Spook to go after the topwater bite. I made a few casts after launching but nothing was happening.  I headed to the southeast fork of the reservoir.  After a while my arms were feeling the burn so I stopped and made a cast.  I hooked up with this 16" LMB.

Great way to start the day.

Fish were breaking the surface all over the place. The next bite would be a fat punk missing a Rage Tail baby craw on a buzzbait.  Then I got a small crappie on a Beetle Spin.

About 0945 it was time for a break to stretch my back.  I got out where that hammock is along the shoreline.  While making some casts from there I saw a carp jump.  Well that's why I brought along some frozen mixed vegetables.  I put on a lima bean and three kernels of corns, set the bobber about five feet up and tossed it out there. About a minute later the bobber was gone.  No way!  Not a carp, but an 18" cat. Totally swallowed it. http://www.fileupyours.com/files/284948/cat1.gif

Rigged it again and hooked up with another one, 15".

Then I decided to head around the point and check out the other branch. I was working a spoon along the grass and hooked up with another LMB at least as big as the first one. It jumped and tossed the spoon. I kept working the spoon and got a small white perch.

Hmm...Perfect bait for a big one!

I put a big hook through back end of it and tossed it towards the middle and continued to work the spoon.  It wasn't long before the rod started bending pretty good. The perch was still alive but I doubt it alone was bending the rod. I reeled it in and the perch wasn't looking so good.  I'm pretty sure I yanked it out of the mouth of something.  I tossed it back and a few minutes later the rod was bending hard. Fish on!  It was a big one too.  It didn't put up much of fight though and in less than a minute I had a 10+ lb cat come up alongside the boat. Before I could figure out where I was going to put it, it swam under the boat and the line broke. Grr.  I really should've replaced that 10lb Stren that came on that reel with some flourocarbon.

The rest of the time was spent catching some more small perch (for bait) and a bluegill.

That's a pretty impressive multi-specie trip if I have ever seen one. Nice job!

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

When we hit the rez in May with Mike and Ernie, I had WP chasing the rattletrap non-stop. Unfortunately, no bass chased it!
