I met up with Curly at 0415 and we headed out to our Nation's Capitol to do some striper fishing. We got on the fish fast and furious, but the early bite was all catfish, including a couple of nice ones landed by Curly. Most of these fish were caught on cut herring.





After eliminating the skunk, we proceeded to eliminate the striper skunk with this punk.



Curly eventually got his striper skunk off the boat. Using a live herring, Curly landed this "monster"...and by monster, I mean about 2 inches bigger than the herring.



I landed another striper that was a little bigger.



The bite slowed down a bit, but not until after Curly landed a nice shad.



With the bite dying down, we decided to change our approach and troll some deep running plugs.

The bite was fast and furious as we landed an additional eight stripers in a little more than an hour.



Culminating our striper fishing event was a triple! Three rods went down at the same time causing frantic action. We landed all three including the biggest of the day measuring in at 21 inches.



All in all it was a great day on the water. Fish totals:

11 Stripers
12 Catfish (11 blue, 1 channel)
1 LMB
3 White Perch
2 Shad
50+ Herring
