Saw a few bass, small and large but thy did not seem interested. Purpleworm took one right under my nose but he was just a feisty one.

Re: Cedar, 5-2-10

After Cedar i went to another local pond and kept throwing around that tru-tungsten swimbait. Finally caught her after about an hour and a half. My first fish on this bait, I believe she was on a bed. This bait looks amazing in the water, but it's hard to generate a strike. Lots of follows from big fish, but no takers besides this one. Still fun to try something new.

Mike, did you try the 180 reverse trick? Sometimes that's a way to trigger followers with 3 jointed baits.

Re: Cedar, 5-2-10

Yep I tried that and every other retreive variation that I could think of. Had 5 or 6 large fish follow it all the way back but couldn't get any of them to eat it. If I slowed it down, paused it or twitched it they would just stop short and stare at it. Speed it up and they became disinterested. Did have one short-strike when throwing back into a shallow pocket, but I think I may have just startled the fish. Next time I will add some weight to the bait and try burning it real fast, maybe that's the ticket. Works great as a bed bait though, especially in the smaller bluegill lakes. Got to have a clean bottom though with those trebles.
