John Casale and I left my house at 4:05 AM this morning and had the boat in the water by 5:15. Yes, it was cold and dark.
We motored up the Potomac past Fletcher's and went above Chain Bridege.
We had no luck in the wee hours but finally, at 9 AM, John landed a nice channel catfish and the skunk was off.
After a 1 our break due to human malfunction, we started to fish again using bucktails. John was using his light tackle (12 pound line) outfit when all the sudden....FISH ON!
After a nice battle, John brought the fish to the side of the boat and I had the honors of bringing him in....all 35 inches of a beautiful striper.
Later in the day, I got my skunk off and was able to land a nice 19" striper.
What a great way to start the fishing season...and in March!
