Mountain Island Lake, NC- March 13-14

Caught my first bass of 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two members of the CNU Fishing team are fishing an FLW College Tournamnet in two weeks so we went down to pre fish.  We drove the 6hrs down Friday and then Fished all day Saturday and a half day on Sunday beforere driving back (we lived on energy drinks).

Joe caught one first on Saturday on laydown and then I had one shortly after on a laydown.  A little before we left becuase of a giant storm coming he caught 2.5 pounder on a rock pile in a creek.  On Sunday I caught one on my third cast on rocks and Ryan caught 2 on a laydown.

It was really tough fishing, but we found somewhat of a pattern for when they prefish next weekend so they can figure it out before the tournament.  We eliminated a lot of water, especially fishing out of a 14ft jon boat with an 8hp.  The water was really muddy and the water got to a high of 54.  We saw Virginia Tech and a few other colleges out there.

Pics to come when I find my camera chord.

Congrats Charlie! Good luck in the tourney. However, before you commit to eliminating a lot of water, realize that there is a warming trend over the next two weeks that may move the fish up. Target pre-spawn and spawning fish if the water gets past 60. How close will you be to the full moon? That is when they like to move if the water temp supports the spawn. Good luck and tight lines!

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Joe and Ryan fished the tournament on Mtn Island Lake, NC today and placed 3rd of 40!  This qualified them for the regional tournament giving CNU a chance at winning a regional title and maybe a national!  They also earned 4,000 dollars!
