Carl called me to see if I'd be interested in trying our luck for some more yellow perch. The forecast had predicted rain but we woke up to sunshine and warm temps. I met him at his house then we headed over to meet Thai at the ramp. Carl's friend Loon met us a couple hours later to join the perch-a-palooza.
Compared to the last few trips it was a relatively slow day. We found some perch but they weren't grouped up in big schools like they had been.
One of our interesting catches was a little strange.
I pulled up a crawfish that had grabbed onto my silver buddy. I've never seen that happen before.
We threw back a bunch of smaller fish and decided to keep only the larger fish. Here is Thai with one of the larger fish of the day:
Here's Carl with another nice perch:
Loon joined us half way through the day but still managed to hook up with some perch:
Carl with a perch from his top secret honey hole. (The same hole that produced two stripers earlier this week):
Here is the day's bounty. Not as many as previous trips this week but we were a little more selective in which fish we kept.
We also caught 2 or 3 largemouth bass.
The water temperature was near 50 degrees. Two weeks ago it was 34!!! Most of the fish were again caught in 22-25ft of water with a few being caught in almost 30ft. I think that depth seems to be the key factor in finding the perch.
Now all we need is for the rain to stop and the runoff to make it's way out to the bay and hopefully we'll be able to go find some more perch.

Well, near 50. We saw 46-48 throughout the day. I'm still amazed that it's warmed that much so quickly. On Feb. 24th it was almost frozen!

Longer days will do that.....

Well I pee'd off my buddy Daniels boat a few times the other day, I'm sure that helped with the rapid rise in water temps!
You're welcome guys!
