DC waters float in May?

Don't know when and don't know any details (drop off etc) but some guys on a fly fishing board have been kicking this idea around. Talk about chasing multi species!!

How about if we put together this Expedition? We can put in at Fletcher's and probably take out at Gravelly. Probably an all day deal.....

Ideas?

Comments?

Sounds like a nice way to spend a day. I will try to make it.

Jeff- would you use your yak or do you want to use my Prowler (my old one)?

I can't believe I never thought of this. If we go in May (especially early), we could be targeting many species. My new yak can carry extra rods so the possibilities are there to catch a bunch of stuff.

I suspect folks could canoe down too......

I will take you up on the Prowler. Remember we saw some guys in yaks last spring.

......

First shad, moving to rock fish, white perch at windy run, walleye and yellow perch around roosevelt island, large and smallmouth around the bridges, maybe a few catfish and a carp or two.

I like your plan! Should we start looking for a date? I can do any Monday through Saturday in May except for May 7, 18, 19 & 20 but I would need to to book the weekdays early so I can block out the calendar.

Anyone else interested?

My dad and I might be able to go, I'm not sure yet, how far away is gravelly?

I've never caught perch or walleye before.

We put in at Fletcher's so whatever boat you use has to be carried in. Gravelly is the ramp down by Reagan airport. This will be an all day float for sure.

I'm interested too, depending on the date. Can I call dibs on a seat in the canoe? I'm hoping to have a kayak by then, but am trying to wait until I find a good deal...

Re: DC waters float in May?

Mike- you have 1/2 the canoe.....let me know if you get a yak and we'll put the seat back up.

The date will be VERY dependent on weather....no need to be on the river after a strong sprig rain!
