This show was really good.  the seminars I went to were very good.  Met Gerald Swindle he is a really cool and funny guy.  I might drive down again tomorrow after all it is only an hour away....     Found a lot of fishing oppurtunities  and made a few connections for fishing down here especially when I get a yak!

Meeting swindle was awesome, i thought about you when i saw those huge spinnerbaits haha.. did u see the king daddy spro frog! thats a giant!

omg, i went nuts on megabass... O_o and those JigX jigs really caught my eye so I picked up a few of those...and a swimbait from langill lures.....and...

I had my eye on the 3:16 frog......

forget Cedar, I'm going to fish it in the Potomac. I'm sure I can get a bass or snakehead to eat it there!

I don't know, wait until you punch the mats. It ranks up there....But you will need new equipment for that.

why can't i use my flipping stick for punching mats?

Holy smokes...you guys fishin' for big stripers? I use lighter gear than that for the big ones!

BTW, I personally enjoy the back and forth on the recommendations of gear...very informative. Those Revo's are strong. I always use Abu C3ss and C4's for salty fishing but I may go to an SX....just need to rinse after each use. Easier said than done!

Speaking of informative (this is for all that went to Richmond), I put up my notes for the seminars that I attended at Timonium. Any one else attend a seminar that wants to share some info (I know John Hill is going to post up some notes once he gets the info out of his head)?

Thai- That's a heavy price tag for the salt. I had a "chat" with Joe Capp (my fly fishing guru) and he wanted me to get Calcuttas for my bait casting rods. He may be right but I am sticking with my stuff. I am looking for the day when my $100 C3's or 4's fail me. They haven't yet and some are really old.

I recently picked up 2 C3's and a C4 (4600 models) for $75.....total....that is ridiculous!

Going to try and catch my first bass of 2010 tomorrow. hopefully this new gear helps...

I did fine punching last year with the Curado E7. Despite the higher gearing, this reel still has 11lbs of drag, which provided enough torque for me to haul in as much fish and grass as I could snag. I paired this with a quality 7'6 heavy action flipping stick and I've never had a problem. For me the 7:1 works great for just about everything I do, especially techniques like flipping/pitching and punching where you're trying to saturate an area with many small casts. The exception is cranking, especially bigger, deep-diving crankbaits. For this technique, the added power of a 5:1 geared reel helps cut down on fatigue and helps me control my cadence better. Of course this is just my preference, to each his own.

Tip: When punching or pitching heavy weights with a long rod, throw some quarters inside a rubber butt-cap and fasten it to the base of your rod to help balance it out. You wrist will thank me

The expo was fun, not so many great deals to be had though. I did manage to find some nice Don Iovino Splash-It's for half price, but most of my damage was done at Greentop. The vendor booths and seminars were pretty cool. I liked the Damiki stuff and the spinnerbait-building station at Dave's TT. The jigX booth had some neat stuff too, as well as some of the smaller companies that were selling handmade crankbaits and poured plastics. John Crews' seminar was pretty good, and I got to hear Gerald Swindle talk about crapping his pants in a tournament. I can see why the G man is so popular, dude had everyone in stiches the entire time he was up there. Definitely a career in stand-up comedy for him when he retires.
