Rob comes through again with a nice write up!
"It was blowing pretty good from NW and was very tough to fish the pilings. But once the wind lied down and the tide slowed we produced, not in great numbers but some nice fish.
The key was to be right on the piling as I think the fish were hugging the piling. The hot lure was a 1.5 oz white "Bug" tipped with a white BKD. We had 5 fish over 28", the biggest was 38"!"
That 38 incher was caught by Rob!!
With an assist from Curly!
Here is Curly getting into the action!
Rob with another fat one!
The "bug"!
And me.....

Coming from you, I take that as an extreme compliment. I will tell you that we always erred on the side of safety. We did not have any hairy moments although my heart rate was definitely up at times while behind the wheel. That limited my fishing but it was fun navigating the boat.
Did I say it was cold?
Saturday was really slow for us in the morning....as it was for many others. We marked fish off of one ledge and drifted for a couple of miles with no success. As Rob pointed out, the pilings during teh washing machine period was not a safe or comfortable option. We even ran to the 3rd island and thought about making the long run to the 1st island where we caught fish on Friday but that thought was nixed quickly (everyone wanted to retain their fillings).
Having friends on the water certainly helped us get better dialed in!
While on the water, I ran in to a good friend, Capt. Reese Stecker. I have known him since he was a kid. He is out of the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. He was SKUNKED for the day but it was only his 1st day at the CBBT this year.
The CBBT is a week or two late from what it did last year....it supposed to be perfect today!
