Fish Finder for my Kayak

There's a lot out there and I've been looking around for a while for one that is inexpensive.  Mapping wasn't really a requirement since I already have a cheap GPS.   But I came across this Eagle Cuda 250s/map that seems to be a decent deal.

Re: Fish Finder for my Kayak

T., The Eagle Cuda models are one of the most common units being used on kayaks today. I'm not familiar with the 250S/Map but overall the Cuda line gets good ratings out there. I use a Humminbird PiranhaMax 220 and it works good for the type of fishing that I do.

I'm thinking of upgrading to an Eagle color uit next spring but I'm concerned about the power draw. I use a 5 amp dry cell battery and get 2 trips per charge and have never run out of battery. I never tested it a 3rd trip but suspect it would be fine. The color units draw a lot more power and I may have to upgrade to a bigger 7 amp battery to get the same 2 trip per charge.

If you hunt around this website http://www.kayakfishingstuff.com/store/merchant.mvc  there are some interesting articles on rigging a kayak. I got my dry cell kit and mounting hardware there.
