10-9-09, Spa Creek report

I made Carl take me fishing today because my mom was in town and wanted to taste white perch. When I told Carl about this need to bring home some fish, he got nervous since he and Dan had to work hard to scratch out 15 keepers yeaterday.

We decided to stay in Spa Creek due to the fact that I did not have too much time to fish. As we were motoring out, I noticed this boat.....

....which looked like it should have been in the movie "Forrest Gump".

OK...on to fishing. Carl immediately caught the 1st two (what else is new....I must owe him $1, 782 for 1st fish bets).

Then we went into a funk...no fish for almost 2 hours. We moved from honey hole to honey hole and zippo. Then we moved back in front of the condos and caught a few more but at that point, we were stuck on a total of 8 fish caught! YIKES!! yikes

One was am juvenile striper!

There was plenty of water and plenty of wing but they just were not biting. I then informed Carl that I needed to get going. But....as always, he talked me into hitting "just one more spot". Man, am I glad we did that! In the last 30-40 minutes, we caught 9 more nice perch

It sure was nice to get out but I think the WP of Weems/Spa are leaving the creeks for the winter.

Ernie, as usual, you are the master photographer! Fall is my favorite season, except for the exit of the white perch. Now I move to crappie.

Dan and I are planning to try the Wicomico on Monday. I hope the weather cooperates. If the perch are starting to leave, the rockfish should be roaming about.

There is no visual of your new boat in the above report.....maybe we should have taken a picture of the new features. But....I know you had a new boat because I don't have any cuts and bruises on me!!  cool

Seriously, while I was not able to give the new ride a real trial (by opening her up), it is an outstanding fishing platform. Everything is out of the way and I was able to even take a short nap on the lid of the rod locker. I will have to call this one the "Deluxe Barge".

Ernie, who would guess, quality perch would be "a stones throw" from the ramp?
