Old School

Anyone still throwing the old Devil Horse? I have been doing really well with this bait at first light, dusk and in the dark. I don't remember the last time I had seen anyone else throwing one.

Re: Old School

I like old school....thanks for putting this up.

There is nothing wrong with today's baits but always remember that it's the fisherman that the tackle makers and shops are going after.

I love catching fish with home made contraptions, old stuff, relics etc.

Is there any specific technique for using these?

I found that 3-4 really short and qwik pops and kill it...........Let it sit for up to 10 seconds and then pop it again.

Re: Old School

I slightly resent this thread starting off "Old School", that's when I went to school. As a matter of fact, Carl was almost out of school, and Ernie was just a few years behind me in school.

Did someone mention Devil's Horse (made by Smithwick)?

Now if you want to talk "Old School", let's talk...

1937:

Oh... and 1926:

Is that old enough, or should I keep digging? My parents met in 1945.

When I told Carl I had an old tacklebox full of lures, he insisted I borrow his book of antique, collectables. I just grabbed a few plugs from the top that were easy to locate in the book. It's going to take some time to find out what I really have. Needless to say, the guy who originally collected them liked to fish.
