Tea Rose Plantation

A friend, Gene Hayman, and I headed out this morning for Tea Rose Plantation, near Thornburg, Va. We arrived at about 6:30 and launched the boat. We began fishing with buzzbaits and within 20 minutes or so, had a good limit of bass. Over the course of the next 7 hours, we managed to catch and release 43 bass, with the largest at just about five pounds, and 12 pickerel, with the largest about three pounds.  Most of the fish were caught on either buzzbaits or crankbaits, with a couple on spinnerbaits and a couple on plastic worms.

Had one fish break the bill off a crankbait when it hit and a pickerel cut the line on another crankbait, while fighting. Wind was a definite factor all day, as it produced whitecaps on the 25 acre lake at various times. It also shifted direction about three times during the day. Regardless of how it was blowing, the fish were always located on the windward shoreline dropoff. When the wind changed direction, we had to move to the new windward shoreline to continue catching fish.

Excellent day.  Good company, good fishing and best of all, good catching.

Link to pictures will be posted when I get them posted.
