cedar thur

I went through the last of my senko's today.

that was three bags in as many days.

many  of these baits were lost as fish did the obligatory leap prior to being shorelined and released.
rigged wacky, the heavy worms get cut and flung pretty easy

I had some 1/16 bitsy bugs that i picked up on a whim.
I tied them on w/ a full superchunk trailer and went to work.

suprisingly they proved as, or more, effective than the senko.

i was throwing them on 6# flouro, and they really seem to float well on the swim.
they would almost suspend for a second before lazily plunging to the bottom.

I caught three good fish and plenty of regulars.

I got one that pushed 3# back in the cove, under the bush on the deep side, in the shade.
i walked quietly down the asphalt, and merely dropped the bait over the edge.

the unusual fact was shallow water fish, in the full sun, at 2pm on a 90 degree day. must have been the steady wind.

i broke off a good one by ernie's, three pounds for sure, on the same rig.
I felt bad, and hope the fish can eject the hook.

there was another nice fish in the 2# class, that i got shallow by the rock pile.

I only caught  one deep fish all afternoon.
go figure....

Re: cedar thur

Senkos are notoriously fragile. I don't know if you've tried the knockoff brands but I think they work just as well but cost less.
