Cedar July 5th

Mr. Hayes asked me to post his fishing report.

Went around fishing around 1:30PM.  Mr. Hayes caught 3 and Dustin(his son) caught 1.
Dustin caught his with a lizard and Mr. Hayes caught all of his with a wacky worm.

Here's a picture of Mr. Hayes big fish.

Re: Cedar July 5th

I hit Cedar for as 1:45 before dinner and caught seven.

The 1st four were caught on 3 different wacky worms....all in the 1st 15 minutes! The biggest was 1.6 and the rest were punks. After a slow 45 minutes, I managed to get another punk on a wacky.

I then changed to a tube bait that I use in the river for smallies.....I just did. At  1st, I was fishing it slow and low and all I got was the green stuff so I took a verse our of Jeffie's book and started to swim the tube just below the surface. Immediately I got hit by a punk and then by his 1.4 pound brother....

I saw Andrew pick up 3 of them....he may get some numbers tonight.

Patrick was just getting on the lake when I was grilling the burgers!

After dinner....a little fly fishing!

As planned, I went out after dinner and started throwing an old popper (given to me by Osprey) with a dropper. No hits on this so I switched to a swimming bug .....no hits either.

I then saw John Hill and asked him if he had caught any but he said "no". Just then, he gets hit on a green wacky worm!

Hey...isn't that one of my spots?

Then I talked to Patrick and he said he just got one shallow on a frog!    wink OK...now I know what to do. I tied on a Dahlberg Diver and in a few minutes, I got slammed! I stripped the line to set the hook and a good fight ensued. I was stoked!

That's the 1st bass on this type of lure. I have read lots about it and have been given a bunch of advice. It's a great fly to cast and to retrieve (many different motions will give it action).

One of the nicest July nights ever!!

Re: Cedar July 5th

I think I ended up with about 10 on a cane toad yesterday. Nothing huge, but I would say close to 5 of them were keepers.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
