4-21-07, Susquehanna (Susky) River report

Perhaps we caught too many stripers when we went to VA Beach for a nice spring like weekend in mid January because it seems that I am paying the price for that now.

Today's result was another striper skunk (that makes four for March/April).

Back in February, at a CCA auction, I was high bidder for a day of fishing the Susky flats with Capt. Jeff Streett. This is a trip I was really looking forward to since I had never fished that area.

I met up with Jeff at 6 AM (104 miles door to door) and off we went on a cool morning! We fished long and hard in many spots at many depths. But.....we got skunked.....it wasn't for the lack of trying.

Late in our trip, he hooked into one but only had 10 lb line on and it broke off.....looked like a nice fish!

We threw Rebels, BKDs, Bass Assassins, Sassy Shads, Specialized Lures jigs & spoons, rattletraps, top water stuff and even flies with the long rod.

I enjoyed the heck out of the day, the Captain was a great guy and he worked hard plus I learned a ton about the Susky.
