5-22-09, Cedar report

Came out to try for a few right before the sun went down

I started with a buzzbait and I worked my usual haunts but I only had two bites......landed one. It was a very subtle take. After about 20 minutes of this I switched over to a wacky worm but had no luck.

Now that sun was behind the houses, I knew that I was going to be in trouble. You see, when that sun goes away....the mosquitoes come out and play.....and they love my Cuban blood!

I then switched over to an old Fin-S fluke that I found (with a 1/0 circle hook).....easily a 10+ year old bait!

Well....that was the ticket! This guy was one of nine bass that were caught in about a 30 minute period!

Some were smaller...some were bigger. I also missed 3 or 4 more.

Nice night....saw a few folks fishing out there....hope they caught some!

How much did that thing way? I'm not great at estimating the weight of LMB's yet. I catch a lot of Bass at ceder that are very similar in size.

Ernie - did you concentrate your fishing in the area right behind your house? I've been seeing some pretty big wakes from bass chasing baitfish in your cove in the evenings when I am walking.

That's a nice looking custom rod you got there!

Re: 5-22-09, Cedar report

i was throwing a green/ brown jig w/ a white /green pork frog trailer.
the bite was decent but they wanted it  s l o w.
i was on the rocks at cedar.
got some good drop strikes.

best bite i broke off, must have gotten  a nick.

there is so much line in those rocks, i think it cuts my line.

i got hung there once and pulled up a line that had jigs hanging on it like clothes pins.

it fell back in.

when i work straight at the fountain i snag a line every time.

none of the fish were anything special, but good fun.

the big ones are scarce this week.
maybe they are recovering fom the spawn

This time I roamed....I fished behind my neighbors house!

I love this rig...Josh is making me a short casting stick and I'm thinking of having him build me a longer casting stick.
