cedar 5/01

miscellaneous dinks caught at alder and cedar

saw a guy catching fish, turns out it was coz.

i thought it was some high school kid.

how old is coz anyway??

i was going to go over and say, hey kid- you fish pretty good, you know??

so on my way out the door at cedar i lob a cast down the bank , from the air pump to the drain structure.

i get WACKED-- boil,  splash , everything.

pulling like the holy grail, i finally think i got a ten pound bass on.

i have never had line peeled of my baitcaster like that.

i'm trying to keep good pressure on without bringing it close while its still green.

i go in the drink, up to my thighs, praying it doesnt jump or break my line.

i finally see it.

my hearrt falls like a bowling ball.

catfish.

ask coz how big it was.

i was too flipped out on adrenaline.

15 #'s maybe, bigger , i dont know, too much drama , plus being a cat, i wasn't too psyched about the weight.

was a great fight tho, great show on the fish's part.

coz lent me some needle nose and we turned her loose

i am just glad i got to see it.

if it had broken off i would have wondered for the rest of my life if it was the big one.

fought just like a big bass.

i kept waiting for the jump, at every pause in the run, when the big'ns like to break water

NICE!!! Coz called me to tell me...I wish I had seen it!

Was it a channel cat? If so, he was 9 pounds 4-5 years ago. He could be 12 pounds today....or 15!

Nothing wrong with hooking a catfish!

Time to go fishin' again!

I am 30...but thanks for the youthful consideration! Nice to meet you...happy to help out. It was a monster cat. Black back, huge belly. Easy 12+lbs.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Could it be that Cedar only has one cat in the whole lake? If so, this very same fish has given several people on this board nice, explosive fights.

Re: cedar 5/01

i was burning a rattle trap along the rip rap, about 3' off the rocks, tight as i could get, ripping it above the algae, and that moose caught it.

never let it be said a catfish is not a sportfish

that hog was pure athlete

i wonder if that was the big fish i was hitting tuesday, and losing after a few seconds. same area

andy was talking about a big wake sunday night

i saw it too, noticed him come back to look at  it

maybe all are related

hard to say for sure
