My son and I fished Cedar during dusk Friday . . . had some success fishing Dead Ringers / Watermelon. In the west cove Andrew hooked into what we thought was a monster bass . . . after a couple of jumps and several minutes of play, he brought to shore what must have been a 7 - 8 lb catfish! I've never seen anyone catch a catfish on soft plastic lures, and this fish even jumped a couple of times. Just as we got it to the rocks (by the drainage pipe), it broke the line and slowly swam off. Very fun fight, but he was a little disappointed it wasn't a Curly-category bass. Maybe next time . . . .
Across the lake, a father and his two pre-school sons were fishing and caught a couple of bluegill - nothing better than seeing (and hearing) the excitement of screaming future fishermen.
