4-11-09, Cedar Lake report

I only fished for about 30 minutes and caught none but we had a nice crowd out.

I met Dustin and Dawson who just moved to the area from GA. Dustin will be at Broad Run next year so I hope he becomes involved with the BRHS Fishing Club.  Austin, their friend from GA, was also fishing along with D & D's dad. They caught many fish including a nice catfish that Austin caught. He said it was almost black and several pounds!

Here is a picture of Austin with a nice blue gill!

And here is a whopper largemouth bass that Dustin caught!

OK...why the picture? It was the 1st bass he had caught on his new baitcasting rig (just got it last night). We'll work on his fish holding later.

Then, Dominion Dan came over to drop off a bunch of baits for the BRHS Fishing Club. I showed him a few spots and he immediately nails this nice spotted largemouth on a spinner bait!

Last I saw him he was catching fish over by the rip-rap.

Patrick then came over and I am hoping he caught a few.....maybe he will report out later.

It's nice to see young guys out there catching up a mess of fish!

Time to go fishin' again!

Thank you for having me Mr. Rojas, and also for the starter flies!

I caught one other fish over by the rip rap on a Jackall Giron swimbait. http://img.tacklewarehouse.com/ProductImages/JG-GB.JPG

It was much smaller than the first fish. I was surprised it even thought it could eat the swimbait.

Dustin and his family are really nice.  They moved in by us and my brother became friends with them which is how I learned about his passion for fishing.  I have helped him out every once in a while.

Thanks Dan for the stuff!

Great job Dan. Helping others like you did brings good fishing karma.

Re: 4-11-09, Cedar Lake report

I ended up with two bass out of Cedar, but once those clouds cleared and the sun came out, the bite died down. Both fish were caught on a spinnerbait though I tried to entice others with the super fluke. The biggest fish was a fat boy a little over a pound.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

I definitely agree about the sun killing the bite.
