VA Boating Regulations!

Virginia Boating Safety Education Requirement

* In 2007, the Virginia General Assembly enacted a law establishing requirements for boating safety education. This requirement will be phased  in over several years.

The Virginia Boating Safety Education Compliance Requirement.

Operators must meet the requirements as follows:
 
* Motorboat (MB) 10hp and greater
     
- age 20 or younger, July 1, 2011
- age 30 or younger, July 1, 2012
- age 40 or younger, July 1, 2013
- age 45 or younger, July 1, 2014
- age 50 or younger, July 1, 2015
- ALL ages, July 1, 2016

You must have a certificate to boat in D.C.

That's good to know! My uncle want's to get out on the Potomac on his boat but he hasn't taken the course. I'll be sure to let him know this. Great info!
