DC - Fall 2008

During the past year I kept meaning to take more pictures and post more reports. Here's a start at doing so (better late than never).

I was out with friends a few times during the fall to try trolling for striped bass in DC waters. We mostly used tandem rigs and small umbrella rigs in water 16 to 30 ft deep.

We caught one striper and 8 blue catfish, all fish were released.

The striper came just after daybreak on a day when we got out early. A couple of the other trips were limited to 2 hours of trolling from 2pm to 4pm (warmer part of the day).

I was surprised that catfish hit trolled lures of this type and that the largest (32 lbs) was caught on a lightweight umbrella rig that was not running very deep.

Re: DC - Fall 2008

Good job Bob! Those blue cats will always save the day. I have had them hit a casted lure....like a fright train! Thanks for the report and the pictures!
