Charlie is right....great organization. If one gets lucky (without spending an arm and a leg), one can come home with lots of goodies. The actual auction is just that, you are bidding against a few folks. But the "bucket" raffles are outstanding. They pull your number...you win. I have done WELL at a few of these.....several nice fly rods etc.  The last one in MD....well....I won an ARC dehooker....that was it!

If you were to look up the word LUCKY in your Funk and Wagnells you'd see a picture of Mr. Rojas

Bob is right....for not too much of an investment, I was cleaning up at these events (lures, reels, rods etc). My luck has slowed down a bit now that I am more involved! But I took home two very nice fly rods at an event last year... value of over $700.

Ernie -

Thanks for posting -

This is a pretty good value - You will get a CCA membership with Ticket purchase - and that provides a pretty cool fishing magazine subscription for that year -

Plus Meal and Open Bar -

I have been lucky at these events - last year my ticket was pulled for a few items - and I won by bidding a trip with Brady Bounds - a darn good captain on the bay - I am scheduled to fish the skinny water over on the eastern side of the bay accross from Solomons Island.

The proceeds from this banquet fuel conservation efforts throughout Virginia - and nationally -

Recent efforts including defeating a bill in Richmond SB 1087 - which would have set back Viginia Marine Resources Commission back to a majority of Commercial Fishing interests versus the balance that it has now -

PLUS - it is a fun event - It is open to the public - and we often see folks coming from other Clubs - Potopmac Smallies, Trout Unlimited, etc,,,,

If you never have been to one of these events, it's worth giving it a try.

For the $50, you get dinner, drinks, CCA membership for a year and a subscription to Tide magazine (excellent read) for a year.

If you play it right, there will be deals to be had in the silent and live auctions.

For another $50, you get in on bucket and card raffles. It's rare to walk out with nothing. Some years,I have cleaned up and taken home over $1000 in goodies.

Hope to see you there!

Incredibly, we raised about the same $$ as last year. Credit goes to all of those folks who donated and bought. Even in this economic downturn, folks came out and spent money.
