First Smallies of 2024

With no boat yet, I had to get out and try from shore.  Got out about 11am.  No bites until right about 12pm.  I reeled in my tube to see the weedguard was bent.  Bite missed.  Threw out a little further and hooked one.  Nice fight and a decent chunk to get on the board!

A couple casts later, I hooked another one.  This one was smaller, but still fun.

That was it for bites.  I watched this guy swim up to where I was fishing and after a minute or two, he swam back toward the shore.  Pretty sure a Beaver but could have been an Otter.

Left by 1pm.  Nice day out.
