Today, I had the pleasure of co-leading a fishing trip aboard the Redeemer (https://fishredeemer.org/) with some cool folks.
It all started when I spoke to Mike Trivett, Outreach Director at Christian Fellowship Church (https://cfcwired.org/) where I attend. He led me to the folks at The ARC of Loudoun (https://www.thearcofloudoun.org/), specifically, the Ability Fitness Center. The work they do here is nothing short of amazing! Greg Lutz, who is a therapist at the center, was the other co-leader.
The final piece was having a conversation with the folks at the NoVA chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association (https://ccavirginia.org/) about sponsoring the trip. That was done quickly and we set up a date to go. That day was today!
It was a splendid morning when we arrived this morning...
...and everyone was ready to go! We will let the pics tell the story.
And YES! Some fish were caught!!
Happy group for sure!
At one point, we had a lull in the catching so I came out of the cabin and declared that the Spanish Mackerel were taking a siesta! That got a good chuckle but in a moment, all 6 lines went down almost at the same time!
When I was chatting with Bernie (one of many times as we actually had people we knew in common), he said, "This happened to me 2 years ago and this is the coolest thing I have done since then."
This trip was good for everyone! The crew of Capt. Greg and Capt. Steve are top notch...great guys!
When Greg got home, he sent me a text that said, "Bernie and Nerry were speechless after the trip!" The mission on the Redeemer was accomplished. Nuff said!!

And I always thought that women on the boat was bad luck ... guess your trip proved that wrong.
Great job getting out and helping the mission
