Yep...the UP! And on a full moon too!

Bob and I were supposed to go perch fishing today but all of the weather forecasts showed a little wind but from the NNE. I HATE anything with an E on it when perch fishing on the western shore of the bay.

So I called an audible when I saw a slight rise forecasted for the UP. When I say slight...it was just that, slight. A few inches. Sadly, it's flat lining again.

I met Bob at POR and then he hopped in the limo and we rode to White's Ferry. Launching was pain free and we were on the water before 7:15a!



It was chilly (for me) at the start. I think it was in the low 60's and it was sunny but hazy.

The water temp pretty much stayed around 79dF.

Bob quickly took the skunk off on a buzzbait!



I followed suit about 20 minutes later.



Then we took a ride up river and I noted and area (mouth of a creek) that I wanted to fish on the way down. We always run out of time and never stop there.

Where we started was shallower that what I remember and we got temporarily stuck at one point. We moved to deeper water.

At 8:35a, Bob caught this 18.5"er that weighed in at 3 lbs!



We caught a few more as well...





The bites were not as plentiful as when George and I fished there last. But the misses were. I think I had 4-5 fish come off and Bob had a couple. But each of those misses tells us there are fish around.

At one point, I made a real nice cast to a rock and declared that a fish would be caught. Only "issue" was that Bob caught the fish and not me! Still, I called it!

Another time, I saw a couple of little smallies swimming around and I made a short pitch and was immediately attacked! It happened so fast that I had not yet released the bail,. The hook set was a little flimsy! And he jumped and got off...

The MD side, where George and I had some success was null and void today. Shallow with lots of grass. Looked like Algonkian.

We did stop at the creek on the way down and I caught a nice fatso.

Lessons learned: 1. The creek mouth and its eddy will be a great place to fish when the water cools. 2. A new to me shoreline, close to the ramp will be explored more in the future. It was full of "cobble" (as CT Campbell would say) and boulders.

At 1:15p I declared that I was starving, I got no argument form Bob and back to the ramp we went.

Retrieving was uneventful (but still stressful) because we had a plan. I pretty much powered the boat on the trailer and away we went.

The final tally was around a dozen landed smallies.

Since I couldn't talk Bob into eating at Roadhouse Jerk, we ate at the WF Grill and it was good as always!

Bob had a cheese steak and I had the chicken cheese steak.



But fear not, when we got back to get Bob's car at POR, I called the Roadhouse Jerk and ordered 8 Jamaican patties! That will tie me over for a few days!
